NEW BOSTON - The era of Adam Cox as New Boston's boys' varsity head basketball coach has come to an end after 9 seasons.

Adam Cox spent 9 years as the New Boston Tigers' head basketball coach. As the head basketball coach of the Tigers, Adam had an impressive resume to say the least. He posted 125 wins, won the SOC twice, placed 1 Regional Championship, 2 District Championships, and 4 Sectional Championships in the trophy case. Adam also became District Coach of the Year twice, 2x SOC Coach of the Year, and coached the 2020-2021 team to an OHSAA Final Four appearance.
Despite all of the wins and awards, Coach Cox expressed his role as being more than a basketball coach. Coach Cox prides himself as being a mentor for the players on and off the court. Coach Cox expressed his gratitude for the successful men his former players have went on to become. Two have become nurses, one is in law school, three serve with the Scioto County Sheriff's Office, two became firefighters at the New Boston Fire Department, one has become an Ohio State Trooper, five are members of the electrician's union, one works at the USP Distribution Center, one serves as a dispatcher for NBPD, and another works in the laborer's union. Outside of their careers, many of Coach Cox's players have begun starting families and working various jobs. Coach Cox also expressed his deepest appreciation to the Glenwood High School and the New Boston community for their support. Coach Cox called Glenwood his home and stated that "sometimes change is needed for both the program and me".

What's next for Coach Cox? After a brief time off, Coach Cox is already on the move. When one era ends, another begins. Adam has recently accepted the head basketball coaching position at Piketon High School. The Redstreaks finished the 2025-26 season with an 11-12 record finishing 6th in the Scioto Valley Conference. With former head coach Kyle Miller leaving the program, Coach Adam Cox is determined to pick up from where Coach Miller was in the development of the program. A team graduating five seniors but loaded with underclassman talent, Coach Cox is excited to get to work and make the same impact that he was able to make at GHS.
